The raw, wet clay has a basic design lightly drawn onto its surface. Areas for a design are indicated.
Stage #2
The design is worked on and the raised area around the basketweave portion is added. Then the the details of the basketweave are carved more deeply and refined as the pot dries somewhat..
Stage #3
Here is the final design of this pot, carved and completely smoothed. It is still not dry and is somewhat still change
The final pot with gold and a crackle finish added.
Here is another finished raw clay body after being cut, but before being fired, glazed or decorated.
Several options for finishing are possible here.
The pot on the left has been painted, clear glazed and then given a gold design. The pot on the right has been glazed with a textured glaze and then had platinum applied.
